First Impressions: Pasta Nostra

A couple of doors down from Corner Club on Leigh Broadway you'll find their newest LOS venture, Pasta Nostra, which means 'our pasta'. The cosy venue offers top notch fresh pasta and ingredients from hand-selected independent producers. Here's our first impression review.

We booked a table on a Thursday evening. I'd highly recommend making a reservation as the restaurant is small by Leigh standards. But it's size adds to it's charm. They've done an excellent job of making the place feel romantic. With its dark wood and candle lit ambience, somehow it feels like Pasta Nostra has been there forever.

Our expectations were high considering Pasta Nostra already has a restaurant in London. They must know what they're doing. We ordered some zingy Aperol and Limoncello Spritz to kick off the night then shared polenta fries, rosemary foccacia and suppli to start. All were fantastic but possibly too much carb-loading considering we were following up with pasta! Be warned! We enjoyed a bottle of Chianti Classico with dinner which was excellent despite being served in cocktail glasses, (which the waiter assured me would help with the flavour...maybe he was right!?).

Now for the main event. Pasta! We tried the pappardelle ragu and the gnocchi. We were not disappointed. Perfectly al dente pasta as you'd expect and delicious sauces. The pappardelle was the winner for us. Great comfort food. I just wish I hadn't eaten so much before it arrived.

Needless to say we were too full for dessert, we must go back!
